Toyota, as of January 22, 2025, is announcing an amendment and expansion to its previously announced safety recall concerning fuel pumps. This “Toyota Jan recall” action expands upon recalls initially issued starting January 13, 2020, and subsequently updated throughout 2020 and again on January 22, 2025. This expanded recall now includes additional Toyota and Lexus vehicles manufactured between July 2017 and September 2019, adding approximately 858 vehicles in the United States.
The affected models and model years under this Toyota Jan recall include a range of popular Toyota and Lexus vehicles. For Lexus, this includes the LS 460 and GS 350 (2013-2015), ISF (2014), GX 460, IS 350, LX 570 (2014-2015), NX 200t, RC 350 (2015), IS 200t, RC 200t, GS 200t (2017), GS 350 (2017-2019), RX 350 (2017-200), GS 300, GX 460, IS 300, IS 350, LS 500h, LX 570, NX 300, RC 300, RC 350 (2018-2019), ES 350, LC 500, LC 500h, LS 500, RX350L (2018-2020), and UX 200 (2019). Toyota models affected by this Toyota Jan recall are the FJ Cruiser (2014), 4Runner, Land Cruiser (2014-2015 & 2018-2019), Highlander (2017-2019), Sienna, Tacoma (2017-2020), Avalon, Camry, Corolla, Sequoia, Tundra (2018-2020), Corolla Hatchback (2019), and RAV4 (2019-2020).
These vehicles are equipped with a fuel pump that may fail. A failing fuel pump can cause warning lights and messages on the dashboard, rough engine running, and potentially lead to engine stalling. Engine stalling, especially at high speeds, significantly increases the risk of accidents.
For all vehicles involved in this Toyota Jan recall, Toyota and Lexus dealerships will replace the faulty fuel pump with an improved version at no cost to vehicle owners. Owners of vehicles included in this expanded recall will be notified by late March 2025.
