Toyota Revives AE86 Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno Parts Under GR Heritage Project

Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) has thrilled classic car enthusiasts by announcing the reproduction and sale of spare parts for the iconic Toyota Corolla Levin and Sprinter Trueno, known affectionately as the “AE86.” This initiative, launched on November 1, 2021, falls under the GR Heritage Parts Project, demonstrating Toyota’s commitment to supporting owners in maintaining their beloved older vehicles.

The GR Heritage Parts Project aims to address the challenge of dwindling spare parts for classic models. By reproducing discontinued genuine parts, Toyota enables owners to keep their cherished vehicles in prime condition and on the road for years to come. Prior to the AE86, the project successfully reintroduced parts for legendary models like the A70 and A80 Supra, Toyota 2000GT, and the 40 Series Land Cruiser, proving its dedication to automotive heritage.

The Toyota Levin and Sprinter Trueno AE86 models hold a special place in automotive history, particularly within the drifting and tuning communities. Exclusively designated “AE86” for models housing the high-revving 1.6-liter DOHC 16-valve (4A-GEU) engine, these cars have maintained immense popularity even three decades after production ceased. In Japan, the AE86 is lovingly called “hachi-roku,” directly translating to “eight-six,” a testament to its enduring legacy. The spirit of the AE86 is clearly inherited by modern Toyota sports cars like the GR86, launched in October 2021, and the preceding 86 model introduced in 2012, highlighting its lasting influence on Toyota’s sports car lineage.

Starting November 1, Toyota began the gradual release of these reproduced AE86 parts through Toyota dealerships, mirroring the standard genuine parts distribution network. It’s important to note that due to the specialized nature of this project and supplier cooperation, the reproduced parts will be available for a limited production run. Consequently, sales will continue only while stocks last after the production period concludes. Detailed information, including part numbers and specific production periods, is available on the official TGR website, with updates commencing from November 1, as parts become ready for purchase. This exciting development ensures that fans and owners of the legendary Toyota Levin Trueno Ae86 can continue to enjoy and preserve these automotive icons for generations to come.
