2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship Schedule Announced

The engines are revving, and the dirt is flying! AMA Racing has officially released the highly anticipated schedule for the 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship presented by FMF. Fans of Toyota Mx and motocross racing across the nation can mark their calendars for a season packed with thrilling competition and revamped for an even better experience.

Responding to valuable feedback from riders, teams, and the National Promoters Group (NPG), AMA Racing has sculpted a 2008 schedule focused on several key improvements. Doug Neubauer, AMA Vice President of Racing, highlighted the collaborative effort behind the new calendar, stating, “We set out to accomplish several objectives when producing the schedule for next season.” These objectives include creating a more condensed and intense season, providing racers and teams with crucial downtime between the Supercross and Motocross series, and optimizing the geographical flow of the championship as it traverses the country.

One notable shift is the championship’s timeline. The 2008 AMA Toyota Motocross Championship will now thunder into action in Southern California during Memorial Day weekend, perfectly aligning with the traditional kickoff of summer. The season will reach its climax on the East Coast on Labor Day weekend, in sync with the classic end-of-summer holiday. This strategic scheduling aims to capture the peak summer motorsports enthusiasm.

Adding to the schedule refinements, the Hangtown Motocross Classic in Sacramento, CA, a staple event for Toyota MX enthusiasts, has been strategically repositioned. This adjustment was made to avoid a scheduling conflict with the AMA Superbike Championship event at nearby Infineon Raceway in Sonoma, CA. AMA Racing emphasized that this change directly reflects fan input, demonstrating their commitment to spectator experience.
