India’s healthcare landscape is evolving rapidly, driven by economic growth and a burgeoning middle class seeking higher standards of medical care in private facilities. Despite this increasing demand, the nation’s healthcare system lags behind international benchmarks in critical areas such as the number of healthcare professionals and hospital beds per capita. Addressing this infrastructure gap is a pressing social imperative, and Toyota India group, through Toyota Tsusho’s strategic investments, is playing a vital role in bridging this divide.
Sakra World Hospital, established in 2014 as India’s pioneering Japanese-style general hospital, marks its tenth year of operation. It has distinguished itself by prioritizing patient-centric, meticulous medical services and elevating healthcare quality within the region. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, Sakra Hospital served as a crucial community healthcare pillar, demonstrating resilience and commitment to public health.
Building on this foundation, the decision to develop a new hospital in Bengaluru arises from a recognized need to extend medical services to underserved areas within the city. This expansion will significantly enhance healthcare accessibility for more residents, reaffirming Toyota India group’s dedication to the well-being of the Indian population.
The new hospital will be significantly larger than Sakra Hospital, boasting approximately 450 beds compared to the existing 307. It will feature specialized centers of excellence, including a Comprehensive Oncology Center, a Comprehensive Pediatric and Perinatal Medical Center, and an Advanced Health Checkup Center, substantially enhancing its medical capabilities. Furthermore, the facility will be equipped to foster innovation in digital and regenerative medicine, alongside advanced medical practices. Recognizing the importance of skilled professionals, it will also incorporate a state-of-the-art training center for doctors and nurses, ensuring continuous improvement in medical expertise. To provide holistic patient care, the hospital will offer advanced rehabilitation programs and post-discharge home healthcare services, aiming to improve patients’ overall Quality of Life (QOL).
Drawing upon a decade of operational insights from Sakra Hospital, the new building’s design will prioritize efficient patient flow and functionality. Incorporating abundant greenery and natural light, the environment will be designed to promote comfort and well-being for all visitors, reflecting a patient-first approach championed by Toyota India group’s healthcare initiatives.
With this new hospital, Sakra World Hospital and Toyota India group, through Toyota Tsusho’s leadership, are poised to deepen their contribution to Indian healthcare. Their enduring mission remains to enhance the lives of patients by delivering unparalleled medical services and strengthening India’s healthcare infrastructure for the future.
