Toyota GAZOO Racing (TGR) has announced the evolved GR Yaris will officially go on sale starting April 8th at Toyota dealerships throughout Japan.
Born as a symbol of TGR’s commitment to making ever-better motorsports-bred cars, the GR Yaris has been continuously honed through relentless participation in various motorsports events*1 since its initial launch in September 2020. TGR embraces the challenges encountered in the demanding environments of rallies and races as invaluable opportunities to refine and enhance the GR Yaris. Driven by the motto “Thanks for breaking it,” directed towards the drivers who push the vehicle to its absolute limits, TGR meticulously improved the GR Yaris through ongoing enhancements. This involved thorough analysis of driving data, critical reviews of steering feedback, and detailed examinations of damaged components to pinpoint the root causes of issues.
Driven by Akio Toyoda’s (Morizo) aspiration to broaden the accessibility of driving enjoyment and expand the horizons of motorsports, TGR has developed the all-new 8-speed GAZOO Racing Direct Automatic Transmission. This innovative transmission is specifically engineered to maximize the exhilarating performance of the GR Yaris’s core powertrain – a potent 1.6-liter inline 3-cylinder turbo engine coupled with a dynamic 4WD system. The result is a GR Yaris meticulously crafted to deliver pure driving pleasure to a wider spectrum of drivers, enabling them to confidently engage in sporty driving and fully immerse themselves in competitive motorsports.
